Vendredi Biats was competing in the seven year old World Championships in Le Lion D’Angers. It’s the most amazing event with beautifully built and designed courses.
Vendredi Biats did a super test and tried incredibly hard, he was a little unsteady in his contact at the very start but settled throughout the test gaining confidence all the time. He scored a very competitive 45.4 which put us into 4th place going into the cross country. Watch our test here:
Unfortunately the cross country didn’t quite go to plan. He gave me the most wonderful ride and found it all very easy and was cruising round easily on his minute markers. We had a very frustrating and annoying 20 penalties at box fence on four strides with a 90 degree turn to a chair with a drop. He jumped the first element really well and then we had a little steering malfunction to the chair. This was a huge shame as he had been super and really didn’t deserve a 20 on his score.
He trotted up really well on Sunday morning and flew through the trot up. We jumped in the afternoon and he felt fresh and on great form. He jumped the most immaculate clear and made the track feel like a pre novice. It was a great way to finish the event and although the day before didn’t quite go to plan and it cost us the silver medal I couldn’t be more pleased with how he performed overall and am really excited about next year with him.
